Essential Amino Acids (Protein)
There is disagreement on how many amino acids there are and some disagreement on the number of essential amino acids. Essential amino acids are those, the proteins your body cannot produce.
Click here for information on essential amino acids. You must consume these or your body will be protein deficient.
Note: it is also important to not over eat protein. There are people who have died from eating too much protein and there are health hazards from eating too much animal based protein. Click here for the hazards.

Potatoes + pregnancy, may = gestational diabetes PLEASE share
Click on the links below and to the right for additional
information.
Eating a lot of potato chips or potatoes before and during pregnancy increases the chance of gestational diabetes according to new
studies. While potatoes have some very good health
benefits, are an inexpensive food, the high starch, high glycemic index can
spell trouble for women who are or will shortly become pregnant.

Diabetes Increases the Chance of Getting Dementia by 60%...but there is something you can do about it. PLEASE share
Click on the links below and to the right for additional information.
Recent studies have shown that having diabetes increases your chance of getting dementia by 60%. That's a scary thought. My father had Alzheimer's and diabetes. My grandfather had Alzheimer's. I had diabetes and Alzheimer's was one of the last things I wanted. Fortunately I found the keys to losing weight and being taken off medicine for diabetes by the nurse practioner I see. Walking can be key. Consult with your doctor. Eating healthy is key. Consult with your physician and/or nutritionist. Read this next article for more information. I teach the diabetes prevention program in my area. It is very successful. Ask your doctor or Health Department if you have one where you live and start changing your life.

Walk-away from Type II Diabetes PLEASE Share
Please click on the links below and to the right for additional information.
Sound too simple to be true...then it probably is. HOWEVER new research has again shown that walking can help control blood sugar for type 2 diabetics in really big ways. Just 150 minutes of aerobic exercise; swimming, running, or walking, can help control your blood sugar. Yes of course, you need to consult your physician to make sure you don't do too much too quickly. That is of course one of the "death nails" to any new years resolution or goals. Either trying to do too much too quickly or doing too little can doom your goals. Your goals, including exercise need to be safe (that's why you talk with your doctor) and they need to stretch you.
Another key is to keep the exercise as close to your natural routine as possible and/or do it with a friend (which could include your dog if your dog will remind you).
The great thing about this is that you don't have to run and you don't have to swim, you can walk.
Of course, eating healthy for diabetes is also crucial, but just walking, under the advice and consent of your doctor can make a huge difference. I know this from experience having been a diabetic but no longer need the medication for diabetes or high blood pressure.
Some have called walking the superfood of exercise. For many, including many with diabetes, it can change your life.
